Playtonic Games have released a new trailer for their upcoming platformer, Yooka-Laylee, revealing it will have a surprise appearance from Shovel Knight.
The cameo from the eponymous blue knight was announced by Yacht Club Games, Shovel Knight’s developers.
“We’re super excited to announce the blue fellow with horns will be teaming up with the green bloke with no pants! That’s right- Shovel Knight will be digging in to the highly anticipated 3D platforming collect-em-up, Yooka-Laylee!”
For those unaware of Yooka-Laylee, it is a spiritual successor to N64 smash hit Banjo-Kazooie by Rare. Several key personnel from Rare’s N64 era came together to form Playtonic Games who are developing the title including Chris Sutherland, Steve Mayles and Steven Hurst who all previously worked on Banjo-Kazooie. Yooka-Laylee tells to story of a chameleon names Yooka and a Bat named Laylee in an adventure to stop Capital B and Dr. Quack from absorbing all the world’s literature and then converting it into pure profit. The gameplay is similar to 3D platformers of the late 1990/early 2000’s such as Mario 64 and both Banjo Kazooie titles.
