It has been a great 11 years, but it had to come to an end eventually. Today Microsoft has announced that they will be discontinuing the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 was originally launched in November 2005 and since has sold over 84 millions units. Microsoft did come out and say that the online services for the console will remain online.

In an interview with Phil Spencer he had said

“While we’ve had a good run, the realities of manufacturing a product over a decade old are starting to creep up on us.”Which is why we have decided to stop manufacturing on the new Xbox 360 consoles. We will continue to sell existing inventory of Xbox 360 consoles, with availability varying by country.”
