We all know we can upgrade to Windows 10 for free. In fact it has become an internet meme of sorts. But now it seems that this has become much more of a legal issue. A woman by the name of Teri Goldstein has successfully sued Microsoft for £10,000 after an unauthorised installation of Windows 10.
An article by The Seattle Times reported that Goldstein’s PC began to crash repeatedly and would be unusable for days. Given that Goldstein runs her own business this was extremely troublesome and meant that she was unable to run her business.
Goldstein reached out to Microsoft’s customer support, but they were unable to fix the issue. Goldstein then took the computer giant to court. She sued for the cost of a new computer and for her loss of wages while all of this was happening.
Microsoft denies any wrongdoing, and even appealed their loss. However the appeal was withdrawn so Microsoft could “halt its appeal to avoid the expense of further litigation”.
For those of you who do want to upgrade to Windows 10, you have until July 29th to do so. I personally did upgrade to Windows 10, but have since gone back to Windows 8.1. But, it is free so I’m unsure again. Have you guys upgraded to Windows 10? Are you enjoying it? Let us know in the comments!
