Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director of Kong: Skull Island, is set to direct a Metal Gear Solid movie. Vogt-Roberts has now given an update on the progress of the film. He stated that the script is finished, but he has yet to get the green light from the studio to start making it. With many films being delayed due to COVID-19, it is not surprising that this was affected as well.
Vogt-Roberts had stated that he had hoped to be filming at this time, but with COVID-19, it has disrupted the schedule. During an interview with Gamespot Vogt-Roberts said, “COVID has sort of changed everything and we’re figuring out a bunch of stuff. I have no idea when it’s going to go. I will fight for it every single day. It’s tough getting movies made, especially something where you’re trying to be bold like this. I will fight every single day until I can’t.”
At the end of the interview, Vogt-Roberts hinted that he has actors in mind to play Solid Snake. Unfortunately, he did not say who they were. Vogt-Roberts also said that he wants to do a Metal Gear animated series. He hopes to bring David Hayter back as the voice of Snake. Having David Hayter as the voice of Snake would bring many hardcore Metal Gear fans to the series.
