Activision Publishing, Inc have teamed up with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to announce a pair of video games to coincide with the release of the upcoming Ghostbusters movie set for release later this year.

Both Ghostbuster games take place after the events of the new movie and feature a new cast of rookies. This new team are tasked with looking after Ghostbuster HQ while the Ghostbusters tour the country taking down spooky ghosts. While the Ghostbusters are off tackling ghostly disturbances across the US, all kinds of paranormal phenomena appear across New York City. The rookies are forced to tackle these ghouls and send them to the afterlife. The games are set to release on console and mobile devices.

First is the console game simply titled Ghostbusters. This is a third person action RPG which allows for four player local co-op. Players play as the rookies, but can upgrade their gear and abilities by completing objectives and discovering hidden collectibles. There are four rookies to choose from, each with their own personality and play style. Ghostbusters is set to release July 15th in Europe for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam).

Next is the mobile game, titled Ghostbusters: Slime City. In this players also play as a rookie Ghostbuster and save New York from paranormal threats. Again players can play cooperatively with others and can even collect ghosts to rise to the top of leaderboards. Players can even craft their own proton packs from a selection of components as well as upgrade their HQ and collect new weapons. Ghostbusters: Slime City is expected to launch in July for selected devices from the App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore.

What do you guys think of this game? From the general negative feedback the movie’s trailer got I don’t think there will be much demand for a Ghostbuster’s game, but hopefully people can look past the movie and give this a fair look.
