Alicia Vikander, who won an oscar for Best Performance by and Actress, has been cast to be the next Laura Croft in the up and coming Tomb Raider reboot.

Early in March reports had emerged that Daisy Ridley was in talks to be playing Laura Croft in the new reboot of Tomb Raider. Later in the month, Ridley had confirmed that conversations about the idea had taken place, but according to Hollywood Reporter actress Alicia Vikander will be the next Laura Croft. Vikander had won an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a supporting role for her part in, The Danish Girl. She has also been in recent films like The Man From U.N.C.L.E and Ex Machina.


This Tomb Raider represents a reboot for the franchise. The last Tomb Raider movie was 2003’s Laura Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life staring Angelina Jolie.

A release date for this new reboot of Tomb Raider has not been announced yet. Roar Uthaug, who directed 2015’s The Wave, has been confirmed to be directing Tomb Raider.
