The Last of Us Part 2 has become the third highest-grossing game in Playstation history in the US. Reported by the NPD group, the other first-party Playstation games ahead of this are, Marvel’s Spiderman and God of War. Both of these games have been out significantly longer than Naughty Dogs’ acclaimed sequel.
The Last of Us part 2 is 2020’s best-selling launch title to date over physical and digital sales. Naughty Dog has confirmed that the sequel had sold more than four million copies in its opening weekend, making it the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive worldwide.
In the US, The Last of Us Part 2 is the third best-selling game of 2020, with Animal Crossing New Horizons and Call of Duty Modern Warfare ahead of it.
The Last of Us Part 2 has received a new update dubbed “Grounded Update.” This update includes a new difficulty mode called “Grounded,” a permadeath option, and new visual modifiers. The new difficulty option will be available when a player starts a new game. Grounded features harder enemies, scarcer resources, and key tools like Listen Mode and certain HUD features disabled. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, this update also includes a permadeath mode. This option gives players a single life to complete the game. It is possible to enable per-chapter or per-act checkpoints. Each of these new modes introduces new trophies, but these trophies are not necessary to platinum the game.
