Parisian developer Monochrome has announced that Tandem: A Tale Of Shadows is set to release later this year, although a specific date has not yet been given. The announcement, which was made in conjunction with publisher Hatinh Interactive, was accompanied by some details of the game as well as a trailer.

Tandem follows Emma, a young child in 19th century London. Emma is a fan of the Kanes, a couple who are famous magicians. Their son Thomas has disappeared, and Emma takes it upon herself to attempt to find him. On her journey, she meets Fenton, a teddy bear. He belonged to Thomas and is imbued with magical powers that make him come alive. Together, they must navigate the world and overcome the obstacles that stand in their way.

One of the core premises of Tandem: A Tale of Shadows is the difference in perception between Emma and Fenton. Playing as Emma means seeing a top-down view of the environment, while Fenton experiences a side-scrolling view. The player must use these different perspectives to help solve puzzles. The game also promises clever puzzles, a narrative-driven adventure, and diverse mechanics.

Tandem: A Tale Of Shadows is set to release later this year for PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Personally, I am very intrigued by the use of two perspectives when it comes to puzzle-solving, so this is one I’ll be keeping an eye on. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
