All PlayStation hardware will be affected although users who already have an account will still be able to sign in, play games and use most applications while the maintenance is carried out. Users will not be able to manage their accounts or use PlayStation Video or the PlayStation Store. PS4 owners have been advised to activate their PS4 as primary before the update in order to continue playing most games and 3rd party services. Details on how to do this as well as more information on the maintenance can be found on Sony’s website.

Sony have apologised for the inconvenience, stating “occasionally we must take PlayStation™ Network offline to perform essential maintenance and implement feature enhancements. We are working hard to reduce the duration of each maintenance.”
