Pokemon Sun and Moon received a new trailer showing off gameplay, the new starter Pokemon, the legendaries, and revealing a release date for the games
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Last months Corocoro, a Japanese magazine, had shown us pictures of the Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon box arts, but the box had been covered up by a flash. They had let us know that next month they will be showing off the box arts for the two new games. Fans have been dying to see what the next installment of the Pokemon franchise, Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, will offer. Yesterday in a Pokemon Direct fans got exactly what they were hoping for and more. A trailer for the new game showing off gameplay, the three starter Pokemon, both main legendaries, and finally a release date for the game were shown off. This came as a wonderful surprise to not only see the box art legendaries, but actual gameplay of the game. Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon take place in the Alola region which is very much based off of Hawaii. By looking at the gameplay you can definitely see the resemblance to Hawaii. Untitled

The main part of your Pokemon adventure and one of your hardest decisions of the game is always choosing your starter Pokemon. The new trailer showcased the three starting Pokemon that will be available to trainers.

The first Pokemon being Rowlet, the grass/flying Quill Pokemon. Rowlet is the first starter since bulbasaur to be a duel type. It flies silently through the skies, drawing near to its opponent without being noticed, and then lashing out with powerful kicks.

Next we have Litten the fire cat Pokemon. Litten can attack with flaming hairballs! Its fur is rich in oils and immensely flammable. Litten grooms itself by licking its fur, and then uses the collected fur as fuel for fireball attacks!

Lastly we have Popplio the sea-lion Pokemon. Popplio can snort out balloons made of water! Watch it spin water balloons into a playful battle strategy!

Here is a quick picture of all the starter Pokemon together.

With this we also got to see the two brand new legendaries that will go with each corresponding game. Now we did not get names for either of these legendaries, but hopefully we will get them soon.

Changes in the main protagonist have also been done. Your main character has more a full model look instead of the stubby models we have had in previous games. The character model in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon bares more resemblance to the main character in Pokemon Coliseum. Game Freak has also brought back the character customization from Pokemon X and Y. At the moment the only customization we know of is the ability to change skin color, changing your characters clothing appearance has not been confirmed at the moment, but hopefully will return.
