Name: Lunala
Category: Moone Pokémon
Height: 13′01″
Weight: 264.6 lbs.
Type: Psychic/Ghost
Ability: Shadow Shield

Often referred to as “the beast that calls the moon”, Lunala constantly absorbs light and converts it into energy. Lunala resembles a night sky, with it’s wings spread to absorb light all while looking like the crescent moon. Lunala’s signature move is Moongeist Beam, which releases a beam of energy towards the opponent disregarding their ability. Lunala’s own ability is also one never previously held by a Pokemon; Shadow Shield. With this ability a Pokémon will take less damage from an attack that lands when the Pokémon has full HP.

There was also news of the new setting for Pokemon Sun and Moon; the Alola region.

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon take place in the Alola region, which centres around four tropical islands and one artificial island. Many Pokémon that have never been seen before inhabit the lush islands of the Alola region. The story begins right after the main character moves to the Alola region. After choosing to play as a hero or heroine, players can customize their character’s name and appearance. No sooner have they arrived than their adventures begin to unfold, and they meet many fascinating people as they travel through the region.

There is also Professor Kukui who is the region’s professor. He is passionate about Pokemon and will even take a direct hit from an attack if there is something to be learnt from it. There is also his assistant, Lillie. She is mysterious and is reportedly the same age as the player’s character. Lillie is not fond of making Pokemon fight in battles but will play “an important role” in Pokemon Sun and Moon’s story.

We also got news of Hau, a “Pokemon-loving young boy with a big appetite”. Hau is again the same age as the player’s character and is the main character’s best friend.

He has a real weakness formalasadas, a famous treat in the Alola region, and is always in search of malasada shops. Hau is a big-hearted boy who really loves Pokémon.

Pokemon Sun and Moon will also feature a QR scanner.

By scanning in special QR Code patterns, fans can register Pokémon of the Alola region to their Pokédex and find out where they live. If they scan in the QR Code for a Pokémon that they haven’t yet caught, players can check its habitat and search it out.

But the biggest change comes to the Pokedex. The Pokedex is a tool used for recording information about Pokemon that players see and catch. In Pokemon Sun and Moon Professor Kukui provides the player with a special Pokedex; a Rotom Pokedex.

It is inhabited by Rotom, a Pokémon with the power to reside in various electronic appliances. The Rotom Pokédex does much more than record Pokémon info—it has its own personality.

This Pokedex shows the player their current location as well as their next destination. The Pokedex can also provide the player with advice on where to go next based on conversations that the player has with other characters.

Pokemon Sun and Moon are set to release November 23rd here in Europe, and November 18th for everyone else. Check out the trailer below to see all of this news in action.
