Play Gears of War 4 4 Days Early With The Collector’s Edition

Microsoft has now officially confirmed the before rumoured Ultimate Edition of Gears of War 4. The Ultimate Edition had appeared on, but has now been confirmed along with the existence of a Collector’s Edition and a Season Pass.

The Ultimate Edition of Gears of War 4, which will cost £79.99, includes the Season Pass as well as a; “vintage” Del character for the multiplayer mode, access to a “VIP Playlist”, the “Vintage VIP Pack”, six “Gears Packs” (allows you unlock character/weapon skins, equipment, skills and extra XP) and unlimited access to the game’s multiplayer maps. The multiplayer maps of Gears of War 4 work on a rotation system. The maps which are playable at any given time are rotated on a regular basis, the only way to guarantee access to a map whenever you want is to buy the map itself. The Ultimate Edition also includes a steelbook for Gears of War 4.

The Collector’s Edition of the game appeared on an Amazon listing and features; the Ultimate Edition of Gears of War 4, a 11 inch high figure of JD Fenix riding a COG bike, a 6 inch long frag grenade keychain, an exclusive lithograph, three Gears Crates and premium packing. All of this is shown in the gallery below. The Collector’s Edition carries a price tag of $249.99 (I was unable to find a listing on the Amazon UK site). Both the Ultimate Edition and the Collector’s Edition offer 4 days early access to Gears of War 4, launching on October 7th. The normal edition of the game releases October 11th.

If you dont want to buy either of these editions you can pick up the Season Pass on it’s own, however no price is known as of yet. The Season Pass includes:

  • VIP Vintage Pack – Vintage JD character skin, vintage Gnasher and Dropshot weapon skins, vintage JD emblem, and vintage JD bounty that gives you extra XP.
  • Permanent DLC map ownership for 24-plus maps – At least two per month for 12 months.
  • VIP “Early Access” playlist -This lets you play upcoming modes, maps, and variants before they are released publicly.
  • Six Gear Packs – These let you unlock character and weapon skins, as well as equipment and abilities, along with bounties that offer extra XP.

Are you guys looking forward to Gears of War 4? Personally the rotation system for the maps annoys me a little, but given the price of the Ultimate Edition I think that is the one I would buy. Of course I would love the Collector’s Edition! Which would you guys buy? Let us know in the comments!
