Red Barrels have today announced that a demo for Outlast 2 is currently available to download on Steam for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The demo is free, however is only available until November 1st so make sure to download your copy while it’s still around.

Outlast was a wildly popular horror game when it released, and news of a sequel was welcomed by many a gamer. Here’s what to expect from Outlast 2:

“You are Blake Langermann, a cameraman working with your wife, Lynn. The two of you are investigative journalists willing to take risks and dig deep to uncover the stories no one else will dare touch. You’re following a trail of clues that started with the seemingly impossible murder of a pregnant woman known only as Jane Doe.┬áThe investigation has lead you miles into the Arizona desert, to a darkness so deep that no one could shed light upon it, and a corruption so profound that going mad may be the only sane thing to do.”

Outlast 2

For those of you interested, there is a online comic book series titled The Murkoff Account that explains the gap between Outlast and Outlast 2. The series currently has 2 out of the total 5 comics available, and is available on the Red Barrels site.

Are you looking forward to Outlast 2? I personally enjoyed Outlast. It had a very creepy vibe to the entire game, but we’ll have to see if Outlast 2 can improve on the original’s overuse of jumpscares. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
