Sean Murray, developer of highly anticipated space survival game No Man’s Sky has discussed the size of the game on Twitter. According to Murray, the game takes up just 6 GB of data on the PS4’s Blu-ray disc, despite boasting 18 quintillion planets to explore.
For those asking – size of No Man’s Sky on disc is just 6GB. A lot of that is audio (⌐■_■)

Although this seems like a small amount for such a vast game, No Man’s Sky is procedurally generated which means that data is produced algorithmically as opposed to manually. This allows for a large amount of content to be created without using a massive amount of space.
This Tweets is the result of a selfie Murray posted with his team to celebrate No Man’s Sky going gold, meaning the game has completed the development cycle and is ready to be mass produced and distributed ahead of its August release.
