Netflix will now be picking up Jon Bernthal's Punisher for a full series after his masterful performance in the second season of Netflix's Daredevil.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

On April 29th Netflix picked up yet again another Marvel TV series. This time it was a series devoted to The Punisher. This may not be all that surprising to those fans of Netflix’s original Marvel TV series Daredevil as he was introduced in the most recent season. Jon Bernthal’s interpretation of the character was enough to please fans of the character from the comics and the average TV watcher. A release date for the first season was not announced in Marvel’s press release on the 29th. However the news we did get from Marvel though was, who the showrunner would be. The showrunner will be Hannibal’s Steve Lightfoot. In addition to being Executive Producer and showrunner he will also be writing the show’s first two episodes. This is a very promising pickup for showrunner especially since Hannibal’s tone and dark nature match Jon Bernthal’s interpretation of the Punisher’s tone. This will help the show keep the dark tone of the Punisher which was started in Daredevil.

The Punisher

This will be one of Netflix’s many upcoming Marvel properties adaptations. So far they have Season 3 of Daredevil, Season 2 of Jessica Jones, The first season of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. After the first seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist they will be building up to their team up property the Defenders. All of this is coming down the pipeline in the next 4 years. If you are a fan of Marvel comic books and love Netflix what an exciting time for you in the upcoming months and years.
