Rumours are appearing on the interwebs that Io Interactive will retain the rights to the Hitman franchise.

We reported a few days back that the Hitman franchise may be in jeopardy after publisher Square Enix announced that they had intentions to sell developer Io Interactive. Well, if internet rumours are to be believed the Hitman franchise may be saved.

German website Gamestar.de (as reported by PC Gamer) have reported that they have learned, from reliable sources, that the Hitman franchise will stay with Io Interactive and not remain with Square Enix. Gamestar go on to report that Season 2 of Hitman is 50% completed and will probably have a 2018 break. Gamestar say that they cannot comment on the origin of the information, which is somewhat understandable as this is sensitive information. However I would take this information with a pinch of salt and wait for an official comment from Io Interactive.

Would you like Io Interactive to be in charge of developing Season 2? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, or tweet us @games_bulletin!
