According to a source close to Rockstar has told TechRadar that Rockstar has began preliminary work on Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA6). The source claims that early work has begun, but a set location has not been decided upon. This is not a massive surprise, given the success of Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTAV).
Despite the usual criticism that accompanies the release of Grand Theft Auto games, the game received widespread critical acclaim for it’s multiple playable characters and open-world. GTAV became the fastest selling entertainment product in history, earning $800 million in it’s first day alone.

The source also claimed that a while back Rockstar had plans to create a Grand Theft Auto game set in Tokyo. Apparently back in the days of GTA3 Rockstar surveyed Tokyo as a possible location for a Grand Theft Auto game. Although a trademark for GTA: Tokyo was filed back in 2003, the article by TechRadar claims that the road system of Tokyo is one reason why the potential game was abandoned.
