Selling 2.4 million copies in it’s opening three days, Sony’s new IP, Ghost of Tsushima, becomes its fastest selling for the PS4.
Playstation announced via Twitter that the game was now “PlayStation 4’s fastest selling first-party original IP debut”. Ghost of Tsushima had some tough contenders to deal with, such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and Days Gone, but has managed to sell more copies worldwide at launch.
This claim does not include previously established games such as The Last of Us and Uncharted, only including new franchises that have been introduced in this generation of consoles.
Previously the title of fastest selling original IP for the PS4 was Horizon: Zero Dawn, selling 2.6 million in its first two weeks. The fastest selling PS4 exclusive, though, is The Last of US Part 2, selling a whopping 4 million copies in it’s opening three days, also making it 2020’s fastest selling console game to date.
