Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series, has dropped a hint that we may be in for some news soon regarding his new project.

In an annual mass-interview that 4gamer conduct at the end of the year, Sakaguchi said that his plan is to announce his new game in 2017 as well as mentioning a technology partnership with Bravely Default developer and middleware provider Silicon Studio for a new game. It is unknown at the moment whether these projects are one in the same or are completely separate so we will have to wait and see what is announced in 2017.

Since leaving Square (Now Square Enix), Sakaguchi founded Mistwalker studios which spawned many RPG titles including Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey and mobile JRPG, Terra Battle. It is known that Sakaguchi is working on a console version of Terra Battle and has stated that development is progressing but the road to completion is “steep.”

I for one have enjoyed all games that Sakaguchi has been a part of so cannot wait to see what the future holds. Are you looking forward to the announcement? Wht has been your favourite title from him so far? Let us know in the comments section below!
