Facebook have announced that they are expanding their livestreaming capabilities meaning those with a PC desktop or Laptop will be able to stream games directly to a personal page. This move will see Facebook competing with platforms like Twitch, who are already wildly popular.

Facebook released the feature for mobile devices back in 2016 but have now made it available for home computers, specifically mentioning gaming in their announcement; In its announcement saying the new feature makes it “easier than ever to stream your PC gaming to friends and followers.”

For those wishing to use it, there is now a ‘Live Video’ option at the top of the timeline or newsfeed allowing streaming to pages, groups and events with the ability to insert custom graphics. The feature can also be used with external hardware for everyone, which was previously only available to pages.
