Microsoft had been hoping that Fable Legends would be a game that would be played for years to come. The game sadly never made it out of beta and was canceled in March 2016. The game servers were kept online for beta testers, but today April 13th Fable Legends has officially gone offline.
In March the ability to purchase currency had been switched off. If you had purchased any of this currency, “gold” and did not spend any of it Microsoft will give you a refund.
Lionhead had said in a previous statement, “From all of us at Lionhead Studios, we would like to thank you for participating in the closed beta of the games development. All stories have to come to an end eventually, but the memories of Heroic triumphs and Villainous plots will last forever. Thank you for your support, you are all Legends.”
Lionhead had been around for about two decades, and brought us the beloved Fable games. Lionhead had been founded by Peter Molyneux after he left his previous studio Bullfrog Productions. After Molyneux left Lionhead in 2012, shortly after Fable Legends was announced as an online RPG that later was revealed to be a free-to-play game on Xbox One and PC.
Fable Legends was set to be developed for the Xbox One and PC. It was originally scheduled to be released in 2015 through an open beta, but obviously that did not happen.
How do you guys feel about Lionhead Studios and Fable Legends? Were you excited to see/play this free to play Fable game? I loved the Fable games and sad that this one did not end up getting anywhere past beta. Thank you Lionhead for the great years and amazing games.
