Over the years indie gaming has become more and more popular. We have seen multiple indie titles thrown into the limelight, such as Among Us and Undertale. It seems that any indie game is capable of becoming the next hit these days. And this is something that seems set to become even more true. This is thanks to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and the International Game Developers Association (IGDA).
With E3 2021 set to take place as an entirely digital event, many gamers were waiting to see the direction E3 would go. Being a digital event, there would be plenty of opportunities to involve more developers. Many of whom maybe wouldn’t be able to make it to Los Angeles for the event.
“The IGDA is thrilled to partner with the ESA to uplift indies during this year’s E3 and beyond .. Indies provide heartfelt stories and groundbreaking creativity that lead progress of our industry. It is an honor to help indies onto this grand stage for the first time so they can share their efforts and inspiration worldwide.”Renee Gittins, Executive Director of the IGDA.
The ESA has partnered with the IGDA to ensure that their members can show their work not just at E3 2021, but beyond. Through this partnership, the IGDA can offer members “special packages” and opportunities. These packages will be a part of E3 2021, which is set to take place as a four-day digital event. The event is set to include press conferences, reveals, and guest appearances.
The event will also include a companion app of sorts, that will serve as a portal and supporting app. Exhibitors will be allowed to host their own “virtual booths”. This allows even indie developers to engage with the media and press, as well as fans around the world. Will you be taking part in this digital E3?
