A while back, the team at 505 Games received some backlash when they announced that Control’s Ultimate Edition would not be a free upgrade for next-gen. Instead, players who already own the game will have to purchase a separate bundle for next-gen consoles. This controversy seemed to die down until the Ultimate Edition become unlocked for some players a few days ago.
Owners of Control’s Digital Deluxe Edition reported ownership of the Ultimate Edition as well when it appeared on the PlayStation Store. This had sparked hope that 505 Games had reconsidered their next-gen plan for Control.
Unfortunately, that is not the case. To clarify, Control’s $39.99 Ultimate Edition is the only one that will allow users to upgrade to the next-gen version. This confusion probably occurred while the Ultimate Edition was being readied on the Playstation Store.
At this time, Remedy has not said what the next-gen version of Control will offer aside from a graphical and performance enhancement. What are your thoughts on Control going into next-gen? Will you be picking up the Ultimate Edition? Let us know on Twitter @Games_Bulletin
