Frontier Development are allegedly suing Atari over royalties owed from the development of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. Frontier Development are claiming they have been short-changed in royalty fees to the tune of $2.2 million.
The developer is claiming they agreed a deal in 2003 with Atari that would see them develop Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, and others – but following Atari going bankrupt in 2013, they stuck around and amended their contract.
In April, Frontier Development started to believe it was owed more money, claiming another source showed the game had higher sale figures. This website showed that the Frontier should have received $3.37 million in royalties, where they only received $1.17 million.
Atari is now out of the red, and according to the developer Atari have caused delays when they have requested an audit of the sales report – this has led Frontier to become frustrated and they now plan to sue for the remainder of the money owed.
