In a blog post on Ark Survival Evolved’s forums Jat, the Associate Producer and Lead Community Manager at Studio Wildcard, has revealed the game will not be coming to PlayStation 4 any time soon.
The post starts by explaining that Studio Wildcard recently realised they weren’t the sort of studio who want to use free-to-play in Ark Survival of the Fittest (SotF), and so SotF and Survival Evolved are being packaged as one game. For more information check out our previous article discussing Studio Wildcard’s blog post on this decision.
But the main reason for this particular blog post revolves around the future of Ark Survival Evolved and PlayStation.
“As for the PS4 Release of ARK: Survival Evolved, it is currently up to Sony. We’ve been informed that we can’t release the game on this platform until it has been finished. We would like nothing more than to make ARK available on PS4 as soon as possible, as we already have an awesome PS4 version of the game running internally. If you would like to see it sooner, please let Sony know, as it’s unfortunately not our decision.”
I personally can understand PlayStation’s hesitance in allowing Early Access games onto their platform. It’s always a worry that the developers will take payment for an unfinished game, and then never finish it, But if the fans want it, we need to let PlayStation know. Let them know that us gamers want Ark on PlayStation. If you want to tweet PlayStation, their Twitter handle is @PlayStation.
