Today saw the announcement of GRIP by Caged Element, and published by Wired Productions. The game was reportedly inspired by the Rollcage games of the 90s, and delivers the “fastest, most competitive racing experience ever”.
The game allows players to unleash merciless destruction upon their rivals, whether this is online or in split-screen racing. Players can drive on any surface they can get their wheels onto, even ceilings. The cars are customisable, use deadly weapons and even exploit a destructible environment to “ensure not only victory, but the complete annihilation of your opponents”.
Chris Mallinson, Game Director at Caged Element, said
“We’re very excited to finally announce our partnership with Wired Productions today. GRIP began as a passion project paying tribute to the great Rollcage games and racers of a past era, but it’s now truly transformed into a fully-fledged, futuristic combat racer fit for this generation. We’re extremely proud of the game and can’t wait to unleash it later this year on all platforms. Combat racing is back, baby.”
GRIP will make it’s American debut at GDC in San Francisco this week, and will be playable at EGX Rezzed later this year. The game is currently available in Early Access and is scheduled for a full release on Xbox One, PS4, Switch and PC later this year.
