Today saw Ubisoft revealing its plan for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla post-launch. The plan includes two expansions, with “narratively driven gameplay and an exclusive quest”. However, these expansions are planned for 2021.
The first expansion to Valhalla, entitled Wrath of the Druids, is scheduled for a Spring 2021 release. This expansion will see players travel to Ireland and learn the mysteries behind a strange Druid cult. The second expansion, entitled The Siege of Paris, is scheduled for a Summer 2021 release. The expansion will unsurprisingly tale players to Paris, and give them the chance to experience the “most ambitious battle in Viking history”.
On top of this, all players will gain access to events and other free content on a seasonal basis. Each season will last for three months, with the first season beginning December 2020. Season one will bring the Yule festival, a new settlement area, a new game mode as well as new abilities, gear and more. Players will also be able to explore the world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in a conflictless environment, known as Discovery Tour, in 2021. As of yet a date has not been confirmed.
For me personally, it’s hard to hear of any Ubisoft related news without remembering the news that came to light a while back regarding sexual misconduct within the company. Even Valhalla’s previous creative director was involved and left the company because of it. It will be interesting to see, not just how the game performs, but how the team who worked under Ismail feel now he has gone. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
