2K has taken some heat from players for adding unskippable in-game advertisements to pre-game loading screens. These ads hit the game around a month ago.

The video above is an ad for the Oculus Quest 2 that is running during a pre-game video called My Team Season 2. This ad runs as the match is loading, but note that you cannot edit your team lineup until the ad is over.

Fans are not happy about this decision by 2K. RiddleGaming21 on Reddit said, “I truly don’t know what to do or say anymore. A monopoly for a single genre of video games, basketball. Honestly, I don’t even think there is a way to make me want to play anymore and that truly upsets and disappoints me”. It seems that fans are not happy with this decision. EA made a similar decision with UFC 4, which they ended up reversing, following the backlash.

NBA 2K21 is also releasing on PS5 and Xbox Series X. It will be interesting to see how 2K responds to this going forward for the next-gen consoles. What are your thoughts on in-game ads in NBA 2K21? Let us know on Twitter @Games_Bulletin.
