Sony’s VR headset is set to launch in the first half of this year but while Sony are yet to reveal the actual pricing for it’s virtual reality headset, a report by SuperData has predicted that the headset will cost between $400 – $600. While this seems pricey, it isn’t as bad as it could be when we consider Occulus VR.
Recently we learned that the Oculus Rift will cost consumers $600, but this isn’t including the cost that would be required to own a PC that can run the games capable of VR. On the other hand if you are one of the nearly 36 million who own a PS4 you do not require anything extra to play VR games. However I would advise Xbox Owners to buy the Occulus; if you’re like me and own a PC and a console (but yours is an Xbox One) the Occulus will be supported for both the Xbox One and the PC. Assuming you have the harware.
Playstation executive Andrew House has stated before that Playstation VR will be treated as a new gaming platform. The Playstation 4 started at £350 here in the UK, so I personally am expecting a price in this kind of ballpark.
VR is going to be pricey regardless of which system you play on, but I personally don’t have the money to spend on a PC that can run the Occulus Rift so I’m going with the Playstation VR.
