The launch of ReCore this week has also marked the launch of Xbox Play Anywhere, a new way of playing Xbox games….well…..anywhere.
Play Anywhere will allow players who purchase certain games digitally, to play on both Xbox One or PC at no additional cost. Players are able to pick up where they left off and all game saves, add-ons and achievements will follow too. Along with Recore, the upcoming Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 will also support Play Anywhere.
Xbox Play Anywhere does have a some requirements however that need to be met in order to take advantage of the offer. Players will obviously need an Xbox One with the latest update, as well as a Windows 10 PC with the Anniversary Edition update installed. From there it is easy, players just need to log in to either device with their Xbox Live account and all Play Anywhere titles will be available to download.
The games can be purchased on either platform providing the same Microsoft account is used (specifically the email used to sign in on Xbox and Windows), to be then played on both. For those thinking this would be a good way to share games, Microsoft have already though of that and only one platform can be signed in to a game at any one time.
More information as well as a full list of Play Anywhere titles can be found over at the Xbox website.
How do you feel about Play Anywhere? Is it just a gimmick or will it be something you use? Is it worth the sacrifice of a hard copy of the game? Let us know in the comments section below!
