Ubisoft Bridges Gap With VR Cross-Platform Play

Cross-platform gaming is not something new, but it is something that was made more complex with the introduction of virtual reality. This is a gap that Ubisoft have seemed to bridge, with the announcement that not only will PC and PS4 players be able to play with/against each other; but they also can do this using a different VR Headset.

As of today, Eagle Flight will support cross-platform play on both the Playstation VR and Oculus Rift, which will also be joined by HTC Vive once the game is released on 20 December. They have also announced that both Werewolves Within and Star Trek: Bridge Crew will join Eagle Flight when they launch. With Werewolves Within being available on all platforms from 6 December, and Star Trek on the new release date of 14 March – after recently being delayed until 2017.

David Votypka, Red Storm senior creative director made the following comment about cross-platform VR Gaming;

“Making our VR titles cross-platform has been a goal of ours from the start and we’re happy to announce that Eagle Flight, Werewolves Within, and Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be playable cross-platform on PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive,” followed by “Our games feature a strong multiplayer experiences, so letting friends play together regardless of which headset they own will enhance the social nature of our games and let them be played the way we envisioned.”
