Trainer Battles Announced For Pokemon GO
Today saw Niantic and The Pokemon Company International officially announcing that Trainer Battles will soon be a part of Pokemon GO. Trainer Battles will see players choosing a team of three Pokemon to compete in the real time battles against other trainers or Pokemon GO Team Leaders. Trainers will also be able to unlock a new Charge Attack for all Pokemon, as well as the new Protect Shield mechanic that will allow trainers to defend themselves against powerful attacks if timed right.
Trainers can invite each other to battle using the new Battle Code system. Trainers that have connections to other trainers will be able to battle those trainers if their friendships have reached the Ultra Friends level or higher. Niantic have considered fair competition in these battles, and so tiered battles will have a maximum cap on the Pokemon’s strength to make things even for all trainers. After the battle finishes each trainer receives a prize, including the chance to get a rare Evolution item for certain Pokemon.
