It has been revealed by a Kickstarter update post that the System Shock remake will be coming to PlayStation 4. It was something that many people had reportedly asked for, and it seems Nightdive Studios are happy to indulge.
“When we launched this Kickstarter, supporting PS4 was a possibility, but we hadn’t started talking to Sony just yet about it. We were all focused on wrapping the demo up and prepping the Kickstarter. We already had strong contacts at Microsoft from prior projects, so supporting XboxOne was less of an unknown. After we saw the overwhelming demand for PS4, we reshuffled our priorities and focused on talking to Sony about making that happen.”
There is no extra goal needed for the PS4 support of System Shock, but Nightdive do explain that adding to the platforms the game is supported on will require more time, money as well as patience. This will allow Nightdive to make sure the remake runs “smoothly and relatively bug-free”. The message finishes by adding “The more we’re able to raise, the better the game will be”. If you’re looking forward to the remake, make sure to spread news of the Kickstarter. Every penny helps. Are you a fan of System Shock? It’s a game I never got round to playing, but may try the free demo of the remake. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
