Invader Studios, the team behind the cancelled fan-made remake of Resident Evil 2 have released the first gameplay trailer for their upcoming title, Daymare 1998.
The title is based on the cancelled Resident Evil: Reborn project, using the Unreal 4 engine and is currently in development for the PC. The remake was cancelled on Capcom’s request as they are planning to make a remake of their own but the project has been adapted and will be released as Daymare 1998. Rather than issuing a cease and desist, Capcom actually invited the minds behind the project to meet the developers of the official remake and discuss its development further. This led to Satoshi Nakai, a former game artist at Capcom to contribute to Daymare 1998 and he is currently working on the design of the creatures for the game.
Daymare 1998 will see players in a nostalgic nightmare fighting to stay alive as can be seen in the gameplay video. The games narration will be fullof pop culture references from the 90’s but with modern gameplay mechanics. For more information on the cancelled project, see Games Bulletins earlier article.
