Game director Jeff Kaplan announced that Competitive Play is going to be available starting next month with the games first big update. Competitive Play was initially set to be in the game at launch, but after Blizzard and Kaplan considered some fan feedback from the beta it was dropped. During a Blizzard hosted Facebook Q&A Kaplan was asked a couple questions one being about Overwatch’s Competitive Mode.
Kaplan had answered that Competitive Mode is currently what the team is focused on and that it would release when it’s finished. Kaplan didn’t give us a specific date to when this game mode will launch, but he said it will probably release in mid-to-late June with the first big update.
Additionally the Overwatch animated shorts will continue with a second season. This season will start with the hook and shotgun user Roadhog. Season one of these animated shorts ended with a video on Soldier 76.
Overwatch is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC
