Obsidian Build Star Wars Environments In Unreal Engine 4

Artists at Obsidian, the developers behind Knights of the Old Republic 2, have created some very pretty Star Wars environments.

Jason Lewis, the senior environment artist at Obsidian teamed up with some other artists at the developer to make the environments. They have used the Unreal 4 engine to make realistic real-time rendered environments that will be available to download and explore, if you have a powerful enough PC.

Lewis described the piece in an interview:

“It’s not really a game, more of an interactive fan art piece. You can run around with a blaster (or a hidden weapon that you have to find) but we were unable to enlist the help of any character artists, so the only characters in the environment are you and bunch of Astromech droids and a few Gonk droids.”

Lewis also went on to say that the team were working on a VR version after playing around with Occulus and Vive VR. You can read more about the process from Lewis over at 80.lv as well as viewing the full range of stunning pictures.
