New details have been leaked relating to the next entry into the Assassin’s Creed series, which is reportedly going to be named Assassin’s Creed: Origins. This name was first reported by WWG, and the followed up by Eurogamer. With Eurogamer reporting that the game will also be a prequel that will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC this year.
Also, an image with the first look at Assassin’s Creed: Origins was published on Reddit, which again was picked up by Eurogamer and reported to be a legitimate image; please see this below.
This follows on from last year, when Kotaku reported the next game in the series would be set in Egypt under the name Empire – however, it seems the name has now changed. Not long after the story on Kotaku, Ubisoft confirmed we would not see a new Assassin’s Creed game enter the series in 2016. In an announcement when they cited that this would allow it to leverage new technology and “give the brand a new dimension.”
