From Software developer of the Dark Souls series have confirmed they are working on a new Armored Core title, and have a teased what the Japanese studio have only described as a ‘weird’ game.
Hidetaka Miyazaki boss of From Software confirmed Armored Core while attending an interview with Kotaku, where he made the following statement;
“We are making a new Armored Core. We are still in the early stages of development”. When he was asked what he meant by ‘early’ he simply replied “I can’t talk about how early it is”.
This will be great news for fans of the Armored Core series, with the last entry for the series was way back in 2013, when Armored Core: Verdict Day was released on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
As well as this Hidetaka Miyazaki also confirmed the studio are also working on game he described as ‘a little weird’. When questioned is it weird, or weird based on what the studio has released before, he gave the answer;
“When I say ‘weird,’ the genre might be a little weird,” he explained. “The game is weird. But we are diligently making it in all seriousness, so I just want people to know that when they think it’s strange.”
While in the interview he also reiterated that he would not be continuing with the Dark Souls series, as reported back in April 2016. However, he said he is finished with the series, but is open to idea of the series being continued by other people. This is what he had to say on this matter;
“For me, Dark Souls III is the end,” he said. “But that doesn’t mean the end for Dark Souls. If someone other than myself, like another staff member, wants to make a Dark Souls, then I don’t want to deny others from making future instalments.”
He then moved on to inform people the reason he is backing away from Dark Souls is down to him feeling he can not offer anything more to the series.
