Microsoft Accused Of Plagiarism After PUBG Ad

Microsoft have been forced to pull an advertisement for the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) after a fan has claimed the artwork is stolen. Reddit user Macsterr have claimed a Tweet from @Xbox plugging the game is remarkably similar to one they created and posted to Reddit back in November.

Microsoft have deleted the Tweet and have said that the matter is being investigated.

Xbox spoke’s person Major Nelson had this to say:

“I wanted to let you know that this is being investigated. In the meantime, our official channels have pulled down the asset in question. I’ll follow-up with the OP /u/macsterr/ once I get more details.”

The images above show Macsterr’s original artwork as well as the picture @Xbox Tweeted. We’ll let you decide on how similar you think they are….

For those who missed PlayerUnknowns’s Battlegrounds, the game involves 100 players being dropped on an ever-decreasing Island with no weapons or supplies, with the aim to be the last player standing. The game is currently on early access on Xbox One and full release on PC and has now surpassed a staggering 3 Million PC users. The game is not currently available for PS4 but developers PUBG Corp have said they hope to take the game to “every platform”.

Do you think the artwork is copied and if so, should Xbox give credit where it’s due? Let us know in the comments section below or drop us a Tweet!
