Legendary digital studios and Square Enix are to join forces and create a digital series based on Life is Strange. The announcement comes from Greg Siegel, Senior Vice President of Development and Production for Legendary Digital Studios and will be developed in conjunction with Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of dj2 Entertainment who recently produced the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film for Sony Pictures.
Speaking about the project, Siegel said:
“Life is Strange is one of those rare properties that combines incredibly developed characters and storylines with deeply engaging gameplay.” “It lends itself perfectly to live-action imaginings. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Square Enix, DONTNOD Entertainment and dj2 to bring the world of Arcadia Bay to life in an exciting new way.”
For those of you that are unfamiliar with Life is Strange, it is an episodic adventure released last year and was met with critical acclaim as well as winning numerous awards. The game follows a photography student Max Caulfied who returns to her home town of Arcadia Bay after moving away. While hiding in the bathroom at her school, she witnesses the murder of a girl and discovers she has the ability to rewind time, which she uses to save her. Max discovers the girl is her childhood best friend Chloe Price and after saving her, the girls embark on an adventure to investigate the disappearance of fellow student, Rachael Amber. Their investigation leads them to discover the darker side of Arcadia Bay as the player uses Max’s powers to manipulate the outcomes of conversations or events, shaping the story as they go.
If you would like to try the game for yourself, Episode 1 is currently free on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
