Konami have revealed a first look at the single-player campaign for Metal Gear Survive in the form of a gameplay video. The video is accompanied with producer commentary and showcases key action sequences while giving an introduction to the survival mechanics.
Along with the video comes the news that Metal Gear Survive will be holding a beta in January 2018, running from the 18th to the 21st. The beta will be available for Xbox One and PS4 and will allow players to play cooperatively, building, defending and fighting alongside friends online. Those who participate will receive an in-game bonus to redeem on release of the full game. The bonus includes a Fox Hound nameplate, an accessory Metal Gear Rex and an accessory bandanna.
For those unaware of Metal Gear Survive, it is the first entry in the series since Hideo Kojima and Konami parted ways in 2015. The game is set between Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom pain and centres around the remaining Militaires Sans Frontières soldiers. Players are pulled through a wormhole, landing in a strange and unforgiving world filled with hostile environments and various threats which they must survive in order to return home. Players will have to fight off creatures as well as finding the basic resources in the environment needed to stay alive.
Metal Gear Survive will hit shelves on 20th February 2018 for PS4, Xbox One and Steam.
