As reported by IGN, Hideo Kojima recently commented on the somewhat controversial addition to the Metal Gear series; Metal Gear Survive. Kojima, who is the mastermind behind the franchise before he left Konami to lead his own studio, had something to say about the game on stage at the Tokyo Game Show. When asked if the idea for Survive came from Kojima’s head stated:
“That’s nothing to do with me! The Metal Gear games are about political fiction and espionage. Where do zombies fit in with that?”
Kojima was joined on stage by Yoji Shinkawa, who was the character and mechanical designer on the Metal Gear series. However Shinkawa is now working with Kojima on his upcoming game Death Stranding. The pair were at Tokyo Game Show to discuss Death Stranding. During their time on stage Shinkawa also denied involvement in Konami’s upcoming game, adding “If I had worked on that game, it would have mechs in it”.
Are you looking forward to Metal Gear Survive? I personally am not. I will admit I love the Metal Gear franchise, and I cannot see this game fitting into the universe. But I will remain open minded. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
