Game of Thrones: The Red Woman (SPOILERS)

If you don’t watch Game of Thrones, I don’t know who you think you are or where you’ve been hiding, but we need a little chat!

Even if you don’t watch Game of Thrones, what happened to Jon snow was literally everywhere. Season 6 opened where 5 left off with Snow’s stabbed corpse lying in the snow with his loyal friends such as Davos (Liam Cunningham)  taking him inside (Kit Harrington was corpsing all episode).

We see Sansa and ‘Reek’ running from the Bolton’s and nearly getting into trouble but luckily be saved by Brienne and Podrick. Daenerys was tied up by the Dothraki, until she states she was Drogo’s widow. However, they now want her to go live with the old Khal’s widows. We also see Arya now she is blind, getting hit with a stick by the mysterious girl.

The finale of this episode was a bit freaky with the reveal of Melisandre’s true identity. The beautiful ‘red woman’ is really a very very old witch looking woman. The scene was perfectly executed with her score playing slowly, and you seeing her red hair turning white in the mirror making you think ‘what is going on?’ then you see the saggy body, with a few strains of hair. She then slowly walks over, and gets into bed. This is shown as she saw Jon Snow fighting in the future, but now he’s dead, which means her visions were wrong (for now at least). We heard rumours that Melisandre was centuries old, and now we have evidence.

This episode brought everyone down to a level where they are vunerable with Daenerys, Tyrian, Cersei, Arya and Sansa all to a place where they all don’t feel as powerful as they were and  has taken them into the unknown.

Overall, I thought it was a good series opener. What did you think of this episode and the big reveal?
