After Lionhead was shut down some of the employees decided to form their own studio. The studio, named Flaming Fowl Stuidos, is made up of Craig Oman, Mike West and Marcus Lynn and have already announced their first game. The game is Fable Fortune and is a digital card game based on the Fable series. According to IGN, the game was first suggested for Fable 2 but was never picked up.
Fortune is reportedly similar to Hearthstone, while also featuring a co-op mode where two players can team up against the AI. The game will also feature mid-game quests similar to those of the Fable franchise. These quests will force players to make a choice between good or evil, the outcome of which will impact the players cards and their chosen hero. Cards in the game will feature both well known and unknown friends and foes from the Fable series, as well as some that never made it into the franchise.
As a result of Microsoft no longer being attached to Fable Fortune Flaming Fowl Studios is turning to kickstarter to help fund their project. The kickstarter begins on May 31st and will last for a month. The team need £250,000 (roughly $366,000). A closed beta will be available a few weeks after the kickstarter finishes, with an open beta for PS4 and Xbox One in October.
The game is currently set for a early 2017 release according to IGN. A video is available at the end of this article, courtesy of IGN, showing a PvP match.
This certainly is an interesting take on the Fable franchise. I personally am not a fan of digital card games, but I know they are quite popular. What do you think of Fable Fortune? Let us know in the comments below!
