During their 30th Anniversary Livestream with Capcom revealed Mega Man 11, the next step in the long-running platformer series. The project is being led by a veteran development team at Capcom, with the game set to continue with the tight side-scrolling action the series is known for. But, they want to completely revolutionise the experience for modern consoles, with the game being a great entry for long time fans and newcomers alike.
The information known so far is that a freshly redesigned Mega Man will be taking on Dr. Wily’s berserk machines, defeating Robot Master bosses and taking their weapons. The game is also moving forward in presentation by taking on the 2.5D design, and all characters and environment will be hand-drawn. We will get to hear more details about the game in Summer 2018.
Mega Man 11 will see the return of the legendary series in 2018, and will be available on the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
That was not the end of the celebration announcements, more Mega Man goodies are on the way also. The Nintendo Switch will receive both Mega Man Legacy Collections that are currently available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC already. Meaning owners of the Switch will be able to revisit the original 10 games, before the release of 11. The only new addition to these titles will be a new Rewind option in place for mistakes, and this will also be patched into the other platforms versions.
The final announcement was all eight games from the Mega Man X series will be coming to all the platforms in the Summer of 2018. The X series brought with it new features such as powerful armour upgrades and wall-jumping, as well as bringing more mature themes into the series.
