EA and Criterion Games confirmed that Burnout Paradise Remastered is indeed real and is coming soon. The news was broke by an EA press release that confirmed that players will be transported back to Paradise City, and sooner than you may have expected. The remaster is set to feature the base Burnout Paradise game, as well as all of the eight add-ons that were released for the game. The remaster will also feature a range of technical improvements such as higher resolution textures so players can play the remaster in 4K on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
Matt Webster, General Manager at Criterion Games, said:
“When people think of Criterion Games, they often remember the Burnout franchise and for good reason. What we created 10 years ago, is as fun and unique today as it was back then. Burnout Paradise is an open world arcade racer built to provide players the thrill of racing with their friends, in a free form way that’s both seamless and immersive. Featuring Criterion’s trademark speed and destruction with awesome stunts and spectacular crashes. With the release of this remaster, we’re able to share this action-packed ride and innovate online vehicle play with a whole new generation of players.”
Burnout Paradise Remastered is set to release March 16th on PS4 and Xbox One. The game will be available digitally and physically for $39.99. The remaster is also set to come to PC at a later date this year that is yet to be announced. It’s release on Origin will mark the first time the Big-Surf Island add-on will come to PC. Those of you on EA Access can play the game from March 9th via the First Play Trial. I never got around to playing Burnout Paradise, but the trailer uploaded to the Electronic Arts Youtube channel has me kind of looking forward to this remaster. I really miss Burnout ….
